Position Title Associate, Facilities and Construction

Position Summary
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition.

The Facilities Operations department is seeking a full-time Associate, Facilities and Construction to perform the day-to-day administrative duties for the Facilities and Construction departments. The Associate is responsible for executing assigned budget, procurement, and vendor administrative tasks.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support procurement, tracking, reporting, and contract administration for Facilities and Construction vendors.
  • Support administration of the FIXIT work order system including receiving work requests, assigning work orders, maintaining system data, and providing system administration.
  • Support customers seeking repair support related to FIXIT work orders.
  • Assist, as needed, with the issuing and processing of purchase orders for materials, repair, and maintenance contracts for the Facilities and Construction departments.
  • Assist in filing and organization of campus asset documentation in Facilities archive and asset management systems.


The expected salary range for the Associate, Facilities and Construction is $45,000/annual - $50,000/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization, and depth and scope of experience.
Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with or ability to learn/work with systems relevant to this position's scope.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with purchase order issuing and processing.
  • Experience with processing or assigning work orders.
  • Experience with contract administration and/or vendor management.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
