Job Description

As a member of the Automation team, the Automation Engineer will be responsible for Leading, Supporting, Implementing, and Managing Automation projections while driving innovation in advancements.


The candidate will use their vast knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to lead and implement automation cells and drive standards across North America. The candidate must be able to develop the concept, aid in the mechanical- Electrical design, install, train the receiving plant, and provide ongoing support for the robot cell. The candidate must also possess the skill to project lead other Integrators as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

  • Willingness to travel in North America - 50% travel
  • Responsible for projects: technical specification, startup, installation, run-offs, and support leveraging controls expertise and knowledge
  • Design and develop all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and programming
  • Debug, implement, and program with PLC ladder logic
  • Develop advanced automation solutions
  • Document and develop standards to generate requirements for automated cells

Education Requirements

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in electrical, software engineering, or other respective engineering degree
  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role

Experience Requirements

  • Expert in the utilization of Studio 5000 Suite (Studio 5000 Logix Designer, FactoryTalk View Studio, etc.)
  • Ability to read electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of and understanding standard industrial communication protocols (IO-Link, fieldbus/serial protocols, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, etc.)
  • Understand and communicate applicable safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, RIA...)
  • Supporting member of risk assessments on all automated equipment
  • Working together with project managers or plants to successfully hand-off automation solutions
  • Communication with external manufacturing system - MES/SCADA and other controls systems
  • Experience with MS-Office


Team Development:



  • Mentor and train plant personnel (technicians and engineering team) to support production needs
  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional groups
  • Plant walks to define new technologies, low-hanging fruit automation solutions, cycle time improvements, etc.
