THE POSITION

Step into an exciting role with the Department of Agriculture as a Event Services Operations Staff! This position gives you the opportunity to support important facility tasks that keep events moving. You will gain practical experience while working closely with skilled maintenance staff. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports facility operations by assisting maintenance staff with a wide range of repair and upkeep tasks. It plays an important part in keeping the building, equipment, and event spaces safe and functional. As a Event Services Operations Staff, you will perform the following duties:

  • General Maintenance Support: Assist maintenance staff with routine repair tasks and upkeep across the facility
  • Carpentry Assistance: Help repair and maintain doors, walls, floors, ceilings, and other structural features
  • Plumbing And Equipment Help: Support repairs involving faucets, fixtures, tools, and facility machinery
  • Safety And Worksite Care: Maintain clean work areas and follow all safety procedures during assigned tasks
  • Tool And Material Handling: Gather and transport tools, supplies, and equipment needed for maintenance activities
  • Team Collaboration: Work with other trades and staff to support building needs and event operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a temporary, full-time position that will maintain employment for approximately 9 months.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is considered essential and will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Ability to perform duties in an environment around animals and livestock with exposure to dirt, dust, and hay
  • Ability to work different shifts in a 7 day-a-week vendor-controlled environment
  • Ability to perform duties in various types of adverse weather conditions
  • Experience using man lifts, ladders, and performing duties at heights
