Responsibilities

The Director of Business Development leads business development strategy, client growth initiatives, and market expansion efforts across multiple offices, regions, or market sectors. This role develops and executes strategic growth plans, strengthens key client relationships, mentors business development
professionals, and collaborates with operational and technical leadership to drive sustainable revenue growth. The Director of Business Development serves as a senior leader responsible for aligning business development activities with organizational priorities while advancing ECS market presence
and long-term growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, identifies, and researches leads for new work and proposal leads, lunch and learns, and other business development tasks at the local office level or across multiple offices
  • Guides junior staff with resolution of issues
  • Uses ECS systems in the coordination of business development tasks
  • Proactively leads internal communications with staff members on a variety of business development tasks across the local office and/or multiple offices
  • Actively mentors junior staff and supports the overall development of the team
  • Schedules business development meetings and connects clients to staff
  • Provides solutions to client issues
  • Develops, implements, and leads business development plans and budgets for the local office
  • Oversees the identification, tracking, and coordination of conference, industry, and award opportunities for the local office
  • Prioritizes tasks and meets deadlines
  • Provides direction for others to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for the local office and/or region
  • Oversees the supplying of content and coordination of email, social media, marketing campaigns, website, and industry conferences for the local office and/or region
  • Performs market research to understand the markets and industries we serve for the local office
  • Assists junior staff in performing market research
  • Increases, maintains, and updates databases, generates leads, and follows up with clients
  • Leads, manages, and mentors business development team members for the local office
  • Actively attends and participates in professional associations and networking groups
  • Coaches and mentors engineering staff on successful client interaction and business development strategies
  • Actively holds one or more professional association board or committee seats
  • Implements innovative processes and creative solutions to improve business development practices and leadership at the local office level and/or region
  • Develops and diversifies market opportunities consistent with the strategic initiatives of the local office and/or region

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 12 years of related experience with a degree or 16 years of related experience without a degree
  • High school diploma or GED required
    • Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field is preferred
  • If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Dependable, self-motivated, responsible, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, peers and subordinates as well as independently
  • Ability to build a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent understanding of general business development processes including research, planning, promotion and evaluation
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent level of understanding of prioritizing and urgency of work in the consulting industry
