Assists in the design development and technical information for the manufacturing of seating products for the
Bernhardt Design Division.
Organizational Relationships
Accountable to the Senior Upholstery Technician and VP of Research & Development as well as maintains close
contact with our Design Team, Plants 7 & 4 manufacturing teams and the Divisional Manufacturing Managers.
Product development at Bernhardt Design is organized as a multidisciplinary team with varied strengths and
points of view with the understanding that this interaction and collaboration provide us with the best designed,
engineered, and innovative products. This interaction, brainstorming and review process is critical to our
success. We are a fast-paced development team with everyone working on multiple projects at the same time.
One must be driven to succeed, be a team-first person and able to multitask exceptionally well.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting in the development of products that are designed and conceptualized by our designers.Works closely with our Sr. Upholstery Technician and the design teams in all aspects of the development, frodrawing review, assisting in the making or assembly of the samples to installation and refinement of the samples for
product launches.
Assist in the brainstorming with Design and the plywood frame engineer to create solutions for our new products.
Creates cut foam and fiber patterns for new products and works with our suppliers for samples and quotes.
Produce the fiber and foam used in the development samples.
Assists in the creation and documentation of material specs for development

Assists in the upholstery of samples for development, photography and the showrooms.

Utilize the E-Drawings computer program to review 3-D frame and design files
Organize the documentation that is used in creating manufacturing BOMs for all new seating products.
Prepare product specification sheets where a running history of the product under development is recorded and
final specs are provided for distribution.
Dimensionally check all samples to verify them to the drawings and note where dimensions or details vary.
Maintains the adherence to a rapid development schedule and must be able to juggle many tasks and projects at
the same time.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Sr. Upholstery Technician and VP of Research & Development.
