Position Overview:
A multi-year study is underway to identify biomarkers for brain injury in premature infants. The Research Assistant will play a key role in supporting the progress of this project through a range of responsibilities and is expected to demonstrate commitment and professionalism throughout the study.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) on blood and urine samples
  • Exosome isolation and electron microscopy
  • Quantitative PCR to assess differential gene expression
  • Management and statistical analysis of large ICP-MS and exosomal RNAseq datasets.
  • Bioinformatics on exosome RNAseq studies, ensuring quality and reliability of the data collected.
  • Supervision of undergraduate researchers
  • Editorial responsibilities related to manuscript preparation
  • Presentation at local, national and international meeting


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Background in neuroscience is preferred
Experience/ Skills:
  • Strong desire to for career path in neuroscience research and/or medicine
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel for data organization and analysis
  • Familiarity with GraphPad Prism or other statistical programs.

A one-year commitment to the research project is strongly preferred to ensure continuity and the successful completion of the study objectives. The position will be part time, up to 20 hours per week.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
