Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Graduate Admissions Advisor supports prospective and newly admitted graduate students throughout the application, admissions, and enrollment process. The position reviews and processes graduate applications in Slate, provides applicant communication and technical assistance, and collaborates with graduate program directors and campus partners to resolve admissions-related matters. The role leads the planning and execution of graduate student events and contributes to programming focused on student engagement, retention, and connection to Graduate School resources. The incumbent maintains accurate and confidential student records, supports data integrity, and contributes to the continuous improvement of graduate admissions and student success operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Graduate Admissions Advising and Application Processing - 35%

* Review and process graduate applications in Slate and interpret application materials and academic records in accordance with established admissions practices.

* Advise prospective and newly admitted graduate students throughout the application and admissions process through email, telephone, and in-person interactions.

* Provide timely, accurate, and student-centered guidance regarding application requirements, status, next steps, and available Graduate School resources.

Slate Support, Records, and Process Improvement - 25%

* Troubleshoot application issues in Slate and provide technical guidance to applicants and graduate program directors using the platform.

* Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with FERPA and institutional policy and support the integrity of admissions data in Slate.

* Identify workflow concerns and participate in training, team meetings, and continuous improvement efforts related to graduate admissions processes.

Graduate Student Events and Success Programming - 25%

* Lead the planning and execution of graduate student events, including coordination of timelines, communications, logistics, and campus resources.

* Develop and support programming that promotes graduate student engagement, retention, and connection to Graduate School services and resources.

* Manage event planning responsibilities alongside cyclical admissions deadlines and other concurrent priorities.

Campus Collaboration and Student Communication - 15%

* Collaborate with graduate program directors and campus partners on application review, admitted student communication, and event logistics.

* Communicate professionally with students, faculty, and staff and provide consistent follow-up on admissions, enrollment, and student success matters.

* Coordinate information and next steps across campus partners to support students from application through enrollment.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment with regular interaction with prospective and admitted students, faculty, staff, graduate program directors, and campus partners. The role requires frequent use of a computer, telephone, Slate, and standard office software, as well as sustained review of detailed application and academic information. The position involves managing multiple concurrent priorities across cyclical admissions deadlines and ongoing event planning and may require participation in graduate student events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities.

Shift

40 hours/week, 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Slate or a comparable CRM used in higher education admissions
  • Prior experience in graduate or higher education admissions, advising, or student services
  • Experience planning and executing student-facing events or programming
  • Familiarity with student success frameworks, particularly around retention and engagement for graduate populations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, given the applicant-facing and program director-facing nature of the work
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across cyclical admissions deadlines and ongoing event planning
  • Master's degree
Anticipated Hiring Range

$19.82 - $20.43
