- Conduct behavioral assessments and develop individualized behavior support plans.
- Monitor participant progress and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and prepare required reports.
- Provide training, coaching, and consultation to rehabilitation staff.
- Supervise Rehabilitation Counselors and support their professional growth.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and community partners.
- Ensure behavioral services comply with DDS requirements and best practices.
- Complete documentation required for DDS funding authorizations and approvals.
- Support positive outcomes that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Master's degree in psychology, Special Education, Social Work or a related field plus a current CT clinical license such as:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Counselor.
- Must be able to provide copies of diplomas and licenses.
- Minimum of (2) years of experience providing behavioral services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
- (i.e. authoring and implementing behavior support plans).
- Must show direct experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience supervising, mentoring, or providing clinical oversight to staff in a human service, behavioral health, rehabilitation, or related setting.
- Direct, verifiable experience authoring and implementing behavior support plans.
- Must have experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and training staff, and direct support professionals or family members on how to execute behavioral interventions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) regulations, service systems, and behavioral support requirements.
- Familiarity with maintaining confidential records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy regulations.
- Valid Connecticut driver's license.
- Ability to travel locally to various rehabilitation program sites to provide services, attend meetings, conduct observations, and support staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to provide three (3) current and professional reference letters.
- At least two references should be written by current or former supervisors, professors or administrators that are familiar with your work.
- All reference letters must contain the full legal name, phone number, and current mailing address of the individual providing the reference.
- The references should be familiar with the applicant's professional work and that references evidence of positive outcomes for individuals resulting from interventions designed and implemented or overseen by the applicant.
- The reference letters should be specifically related to the application of becoming a DDS qualified provider.
- Must be able to provide two (2) behavioral support plans that were implemented within the past twelve (12) months.
- Work samples must be fully redacted to remove all identifying information, including names, dates of birth, and other protected information.
- Work samples must demonstrate experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Must successfully complete the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Clinical-Behavioral Qualifying Requirement process and obtain approval for inclusion on the DDS Approved Provider List.
- Must complete all required state-mandated screenings and background checks, including:
- Connecticut State Police criminal background check (required following acceptance by DDS as an approved provider).
- DDS Abuse and Neglect Registry check.
- Sex Offender Registry check.
- Must successfully participate in an interview with the DDS Psychology Director and other designated DDS representatives.

Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Mobility: Requires the ability to travel between rehabilitation program sites, community locations, and meeting locations to conduct observations, provide staff support, attend meetings, and perform other job-related duties.
- Physical Activity: Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving throughout program sites and office environments during the workday.
- Lifting and Carrying: Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, and transport work-related materials, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Computer Use: Requires extended periods of computer use for documentation, report writing, data analysis, virtual meetings, email communication, and other administrative tasks.
- Driving and Travel: Requires local travel between rehabilitation program sites, community-based locations, and meetings. Employees must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Connecticut driver's license.
- Work Environment: Work is performed in a variety of settings, including rehabilitation facilities, community-based locations, participant service sites, training environments, and office settings. The position requires flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules, participant needs, and program priorities.
- Behavioral Environment: May be exposed to challenging behaviors exhibited by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and must be able to respond appropriately in accordance with established behavior support plans, safety procedures, and organizational policies.
