Job Summary
The
Office of Information Technology invites applications for a
CRM DevOps Release Analyst! This position serves as a professional-level (individual contributor) analyst supporting the development, testing, and release of Salesforce.com (SFDC) solutions for the Enterprise CRM program within the Digital Experience and Technology for Learner Success (DETLS) / Learner Engagement Technology (LET) effort, with a focus on Salesforce's Education Cloud product.
This position exists to relieve developers, Operations Analysts, and the DevOps Manager of routine release mechanics by building and reviewing release packages; implementing and monitoring the deployment pipeline; managing sandbox creation, maintenance, data seeding, and lifecycle; supporting backup and metadata hygiene for production environments; creating/maintaining operational documentation; and providing hands-on configuration and QA testing support. This position reports to the Enterprise CRM DevOps Manager and works closely with the Sr. SFDC Developer, CRM Technical Architect, CRM Operations Analysts, and the Business Analyst team to ensure stable, secure, and scalable releases to production.
This position operates within established change, incident, and configuration management processes, and leverages existing CRM and CU/OIT shared technical infrastructure, methods, and data, including enterprise processes, systems, and integrations. As a professional-level role, work is performed under the supervision and code review of senior technical staff, with a defined escalation path (Analyst/Coordinator> Sr. Developer / DevOps Manager > Assistant Director of CRM Services & Systems).

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Release, Deployment & Environment Engineering
This position provides hands-on execution of the CRM release and environment management processes. Duties include:
- Implement and monitor the deployment pipeline supporting the DevOps Manager's software releases and deployment train.
- Perform routine sandbox refresh, seeding, and synchronization to provide enterprise-quality levels of environment alignment across the deployment chain.
- Assist with backup strategy, environment configuration, and deployment improvements under the direction of the DevOps Manager.
- Implement established deployment processes to ensure stable and successful bug-fix, feature, and application releases to the production environments.
- Perform programmatic/bulk data moves between environments using ETL and Salesforce data tools (e.g., Data Loader, Gearset) and perform bulk data update as required by released features, under supervision.
- Use standard processes for ongoing build, release, enhancements, and bug fixes as needed to the Salesforce.com platform.
- Identify, recommend, and implement approved changes to development/deployment processes, system configurations, and other aspects of the Salesforce.com/CRM service, following established change control.
- Maintain documentation of deployment steps, environment state, and release notes.
- Connect with internal and external partners as required to advise them when changes are implemented.
Deployment QA, Testing & Documentation Support
- Assist developers and the operations team to develop and implement functional and regression testing in the deployment context (complementing, not duplicating, other Analysts' QA).
- Identify and document bugs discovered during release and environment activities, including exact details on re-creation.
- Update operational and administrative documentation as necessary after configuration changes, patches, upgrades, and deployments.
- Author and maintain release/deployment runbooks and environment procedures.
Governance, Metrics & Service Management Alignment
- Perform all pipeline and environment activity within the established release train and OIT service management practices (incident, change, and configuration management), consistent with the Assistant Director's mandate to ensure alignment to OIT service management.
- Regularly surface utilization, deployment, and environment health metrics to feed the DevOps Manager's and Assistant Director's operational KPI reporting.
- Support tooling standardization and environment rationalization efforts that advance service efficiency and cost optimization.
Technical Support
- Provide prompt, accurate, and courteous assistance with deployment-related issues and questions, advancing complex issues to senior developers/analysts or the DevOps Manager.
Professional Development & Proficiency Maintenance
- Maintain and grow proficiency in Salesforce release/DevOps practices, relevant certifications, and deployment tooling through online trainings, conferences, seminars, classes, and discussions with colleagues and peer institutions.

- This position is in a hybrid work situation, working primarily remotely but will report to campus a few times each year.

- The annual salary range is $74,400 - $81,840.

What We Require
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field. A combination of education and/or related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
- 2 or more years of experience in software release management, systems administration, CI/CD support, Salesforce development, or comparable technical operations.
- Familiarity with Git and source control concepts.
- Familiarity with Salesforce data tools (e.g., Data Loader) and/or deployment tooling (e.g., Gearset, Jenkins).

What We Would Like You to Have
- Salesforce Certified Administrator or Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I certification expected within 6-12 months of hire if not held at hire.
- Familiarity with a ticketing/ITSM system such as ServiceNow.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira.
- Experience with data modeling and ETL tools.
- Exposure to agile / continuous integration practices.
- Prior experience in Higher Education is desirable.
