Location: San Francisco, CA
Schedule/Shift: Hybrid, 2 days on site

Job Summary

The Tax Accountant is an individual contributor responsible for supporting tax project management, compliance, technical accounting, and process improvement initiatives. This role partners with Tax, Finance, Controllership, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to manage tax projects, evaluate regulatory changes, maintain policies and controls, and address complex tax matters. The position also supports U.S. international tax compliance and related analyses while contributing to SOX compliance and technology-driven process improvements.

Job Responsibilities



  • Manage tax project status, deliverables, timelines, and deadlines in partnership with the Head of Tax.
  • Collaborate with Tax, Controllership, Legal, Finance, and other business partners to align priorities and resolve tax-related challenges.
  • Develop, document, and maintain tax and accounting policies in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess potential impacts on the organization.
  • Communicate relevant tax and regulatory updates to non-tax business partners.
  • Identify and implement process improvements using technology and other tools while maintaining appropriate controls.
  • Support SOX compliance through tax-related controls, documentation, and process improvements.
  • Assist with preparation of tax technical and accounting memorandums.
  • Review U.S. international tax compliance forms prepared by external accounting advisors, including Forms 5471, 8858, 1118, and applicable 8900 series forms.
  • Support Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, and foreign tax credit analyses.
  • Collaborate with external advisors, auditors, and internal teams on complex tax and accounting matters.


Job Requirements



  • 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate tax and public accounting.
  • CPA license required.
  • Experience with U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance and reporting.
  • Experience supporting tax project management, SOX compliance, and policy development preferred.
  • Familiarity with FASB standards and their application to tax and accounting policies and memorandums.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Experience with tax and financial technologies such as SAP, Oracle HFM/HTP, OneSource Income Tax, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, robotic process automation, and advanced Excel.
  • Working knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, learn proactively, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Retail or wholesale industry experience preferred.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Taxation preferred.
