As part of DUMAC's Private Team, you'll gain broad exposure to venture capital, private equity, natural resources, real estate, and other private investment strategies while working with some of the world's leading investment managers.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, selecting, and monitoring investment opportunities across private market asset classes.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to assess investment opportunities, risks, and portfolio performance.
  • Support portfolio construction, asset allocation, and investment strategy analysis.
  • Help develop, maintain, and enhance investment databases, AI-enabled tools, and systems that support investment decision-making.
  • Support the Chief Investment Officer and investment team members with presentations and strategic investment materials.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, reports, and recommendations for internal decision-making.
  • Conduct independent research on portfolio management topics, emerging investment trends, and new investment opportunities.
  • Participate in due diligence activities, investment execution processes, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Collaborate with team members to evaluate investment managers, funds, co-investments, secondaries, and direct investment opportunities.
  • Contribute to a culture of intellectual curiosity, rigorous analysis, and thoughtful decision-making.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university completed or expected in 2027.
  • Outstanding academic achievement.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and research capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with quantitative and analytical tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to interact professionally with business leaders, executives, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated interest in investing through coursework, internships, research, prior work experience, personal investing activities, or related endeavors.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $108,000. Duke Universityconsiders factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
