Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The CEHS mission is to advance translational environmental health sciences research that serves North Carolina and the nation. We provide pilot project funding, access to translational research support, innovative molecular and data analytics, career development and training, and facilitate multidirectional communication with community partners.
Position Summary
The Center Program Assistant provides administrative and programmatic support for the Center for Environmental Health and Susceptibility ( CEHS). The position assists Center leadership and administrative staff with coordination and day-to-day operations of Center activities, programs, meetings, and events. Responsibilities may include scheduling meetings; preparing agendas and meeting materials; maintaining Center records, files, distribution lists, and tracking documents; assisting with communications and correspondence; supporting seminars, workshops, retreats, and other Center activities; and providing administrative support for Center programs and initiatives. The position will help track deadlines, requests, and required materials from Center members and program participants and follow up as needed to ensure information is received and organized in a timely manner. The assistant may also support the collection and organization of information needed for Center reports, grant-related activities, evaluations, and other administrative requirements. Additional responsibilities may include purchasing, reimbursements, travel coordination, event logistics, document preparation, data entry, and other administrative duties necessary to support efficient Center operations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences

  • Previous administrative or program support experience in a university, research, academic, healthcare, or similar professional environment
  • Experience coordinating meetings, events, or academic/research activities or supporting related logistics and follow-up
  • Experience working effectively with faculty, staff, students, or other stakeholders in a collaborative professional environment
  • Experience maintaining accurate tracking systems, spreadsheets, databases, records, or other administrative documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
