Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant for Student Life supports programs and services that strengthen student engagement, belonging, leadership, and campus community. The position works closely with Student Life staff and student leaders in the areas of campus programming, student clubs and organizations, the Student Activities Board ( SAB), intramurals, Greek Life, and both commuter engagement and residential life. The Graduate Assistant resides on campus and participates in the residence hall on-call rotation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Support the mission, vision, values, and Franciscan traditions of the University of St. Francis.
* Assist with the planning and implementation of Student Life programs, activities, and campus traditions which support student belonging and retention.
* Coordinate campus-wide student activities and intramurals with the support of the Student Activities Board ( SAB) and Commuter Assistants for residential and commuter students, including program logistics, communications, contracts, purchasing, budget tracking, assessment, and other administrative responsibilities as directed.
* Support and advise student leaders in student clubs and organizations and Greek Life.
* Participate in the residence hall emergency response/on-call rotation and assist with residential student needs as assigned.
* Attend Student Life and Division staff meetings, and other meetings or events as appropriate.
* Collaborate with other offices to support a welcoming and engaging campus environment.
* Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Must be admitted to and remain in good standing in an eligible University of St. Francis graduate program.
* Experience in student affairs, student leadership, campus programming, residence life, or related areas preferred.
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and administrative skills.
* Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and other campus constituencies.
* Willingness to work evenings and weekends and to participate in the residence hall on-call rotation.
* Commitment to the mission, vision, values, and traditions of the University of St. Francis.
Preferred Requirements
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
Approximately 20 hours a week, established in accordance with the University's Graduate Assistant Policy with evening and weekend responsibilities required, in addition to residence hall on-call duty.
Physical Requirements of Position
The Graduate Assistant resides on campus as part of the appointment. Work is performed primarily in campus office, program, and residential settings and requires regular interaction with students. Evening and weekend work is expected based on programs, events, and on-call responsibilities. During on-call responsibilities, the Graduate Assistant must adhere to applicable institutional policies including remaining within a 15-minute travel radius from the Main Campus at all times and able to respond to emergencies.
