| Position Description: |
The College of Pharmacy seeks an innovative and dedicated leader for the position of Director of Service Learning. This is a half-time (50%), twelve-month open rank appointment. The Director will be appointed on the clinical track and will have 20% effort dedicated to administration, with the remaining 30% effort focused on faculty responsibilities of teaching, professional productivity and professional service. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy participate in learning events that provide services to specific groups in the community. These service learning experiences include events such as immunization clinics, health fairs, blood pressure screenings and educational activities. The Director will develop, manage, and assess service learning activities for the PharmD program, developing innovative and sustainable service learning opportunities that connect pharmacy education to community health needs. The Director will lead efforts to fulfill the UI College of Pharmacy's Strategic Plan, Objective 6.1 Transform existing service-learning activities into a cohesive, sustainable program to ensure deeper community impact, enhanced student development and support of graduates practicing in these communities. This position reports to the Department Executive Officer (DEO)/Chair, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science for both the administrative assignment and as a faculty member. The anticipated start date is 2027. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct service learning activities for PharmD students.
- Engage in innovative professional productivity.
- Teach in assigned areas within the PharmD curriculum.
- Actively participate in PPS administrative activities as assigned
- Ensure an adequate number and quality of service learning experiences to meet the needs of the College's PharmD students.
- Coordinate service learning activities as needed with the Office of Professional Education.

| Education Requirement: |
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a College/School of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
|
| Required Qualifications: |
- Minimum of two years' experience teaching in or precepting students from an ACPE-accredited College/School of Pharmacy.
- Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Iowa.
- Demonstrate knowledge of service learning experiences.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Engagement in community outreach and/or public health services.

| Desirable Qualifications: |
- Postgraduate training, e.g. pharmacy residency, or other similar practice experience.
- Administrative experience at a director level or its equivalent in an accredited College/School of Pharmacy or a comparable leadership position outside of academia.
- Experience precepting experiential education experiences and/or service learning events.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Evidence of professional productivity.
