Chemical Dependency Counselor

Description

Provides support to and build relationship with patients who have a chemical dependency diagnosis to ensure a successful transition from ED/ hospital to the community and to reduce re-admissions to the ED/hospital. Support includes brief assessment of status of chemical dependency issue, assessment of readiness for change, identification of coverage for services, referral to appropriate services and follow-up to ensure services are received. Serves as a link between organizations serving persons with chemical dependency needs and the Medical Center to improve coordination of services.

Required Qualifications:



  • Coursework/Training: Completion of CADC or CATC program.
  • Within 90 days of hire: California Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor I - California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals, or
  • Within 90 days of hire: California Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor II - California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals, or
  • Within 90 days of hire: California Licensed Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor - California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals, or
  • Within 90 days of hire: California Licensed Advanced Drug Counselor Supervisor - California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals
  • 1 year experience in working with chemical dependency clients.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
