About the Job
Teamster priority period runs from March 31, 2023 - April 7, 2023 Description of Position: Positions allocated to this classification are primarily responsible for providing complex mechanical maintenance and repair work to building systems and other related equipment. This classification specification will not specifically identify every eventuality or combination of duties and responsibilities of positions that currently exist, or those that result from changing program emphasis or organizational structures in the future. To be classified as a Maintenance Mechanic 3, the majority of tasks performed must be in the job duties of this classification as noted below.
Responsibilities: Mechanic 3 classification performs the majority of tasks noted below and includes other related duties as assigned. Performs tasks and duties of Maintenance Mechanic 1 and 2 Provides work direction to maintenance workers Performs planning and scheduling for maintenance teams as needed Leads (and performs) the repair and replacement of hot water heating, low pressure steam equipment/systems and chiller components Operates and reviews control strategies of building equipment/systems utilizing computerized equipment monitoring and automation systems Orientates, trains, and assists the work in progress of maintenance personnel Consults with project management (i.e. supervisor, Owner's Representative, contractor) regarding specialized new construction or building upgrades to add scope and perspective based upon experience and knowledge Recommends, plans and implements systemic repair to building equipment/systems including consultation with energy management and BSAC Assist supervisor in organizing and establishing daily as well as long-term, complex work plans Receives and responds to service calls First responder for maintenance issues This job may be designated as essential. The employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this postion. Work Environment: Work is performed in the field. This position will be exposed to hazardous conditions where hearing and visual protection may be required.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Technical training in mechanical maintenance totaling two years and five years of applicable work experience. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to meet the physical requirements of this position. Ability to perform the duties of the Maintenance Mechanic 1 and 2 classification specifications. Certain positions within this classification may require a Boiler Second Class C License or higher, and/or a welder certification, and/or special engineer's license. Understanding of computerized building systems. Essential Qualification: Regular attendance is an essential qualificaiton for this position.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy manual labor, lifting up to 50 pounds ability to work in confined spaces wearing a PAPR Ability to work in extreme hot/cold, dirty spaces Ability to climb ladders and perform work overhead Ability to climb, stoop, bend, stand, crawl, push and pull for extended periods of time Ability to perform snow removal duties including shoveling and operating a snow removal equipment Ability to use hand tools and specialized power tools Ability to operate heavy equipment, fork lifts, bobcats and other motorized equipment used in the maintenance of building and grounds

- Interact with fellow employees, management, customers and the general public in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner.
- Maintain a positive public image, positive attitude and demeanor when performing a service for customers and the general public at the University.
- Safely perform duties following established University safe operating procedures and practices.
Pay and Benefits
