IMPORTANT NOTICE: This job opening is specifically for the position of Senior Electronics Technician, focusing on equipment repair, maintenance, and calibration. It is crucial to highlight that this role does NOT involve responsibilities related to computer science or information technology (IT). The Senior Electronics Technician we are seeking will take the lead in ensuring the seamless functionality of laboratory and research equipment. From planning and scheduling repair and maintenance tasks to recommending new test equipment, this position requires a deep expertise in handling a diverse range of laboratory instruments.

Annual Salary Range: $53,040.00 to $70,000.00

Salary varies based on experience.

About the Job

The senior technician will assume the lead responsibility for repair, maintenance and calibration of laboratory and research equipment, which will include planning and scheduling of aforementioned tasks. Recommend new test equipment that will be needed now and in the future equipment services and calibrations.

35% Repair of equipment:

Repair equipment in the field or shop. Equipment that may be serviced, shakers, balances, pipettes, Co2 incubators, centrifuges, ovens, PCR machines, hot plates, stirrers, mixers and other pieces of equipment that maybe found in research and teaching laboratories. The senior technician might be called on to make recommendations on upgrades and modifications on equipment being serviced. The senior technician will reach out to vendors, to obtain technical assistance in the service and repair of equipment as needed. The senior technician instruct end users on proper use of equipment when the need arises, to ensure the equipment is used in the scope it was design to function in.

50% Calibration and Preventive Maintenance of Equipment

Calibrate equipment in the field or in the shop. Equipment that may be calibrated; shakers, balances, pipettes, Co2 incubators, centrifuges, ovens, shaking incubators, PCR machines and other types of equipment might be found in research and teaching laboratories.

10% Documentation:

Reply to service inquiries by, phone, e-mail or face to face conversations. Prepare price quotes for repair and calibration services, enter service calls into service call database, enter calibration into calibration database. assist in the development of standard operating procedures used to calibrated equipment.

5% Customer Interface:

Promote the shop services to laboratories on all campuses, help develop new services that will help meet the future needs of universities research and teaching laboratories.

Required Qualifications:

-High school graduation plus at least two years of trade school education or other training in electronics with at least one year of recent experience should provide the necessary background for this work. Equivalent combination of related experience and education may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications:

-The senior technician must have proficient experience in serving 2 to 3 of the listed equipment: Pipettes, centrifuges, Co2 incubators, shaking incubators, PCR machines, balances.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $53,040.00 to $70,000.00

Salary varies based on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
