Job Summary:



The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization. This individual will work independently and in collaboration with Center for COMBAT Research leadership, associated investigators, and collaborators.

We seek collaborative, highly motivated individuals who are excellent communicators, skilled in conceptualizing complex systems and logic models, and passionate about improving healthcare. This position focuses on the dissemination of trauma and psychological health research findings to military stakeholders and the implementation of evidence-based practices within military medical populations. Therefore, applicants should have experience working with, or significant interest in, military populations.

This 1.0 FTE position will serve as an investigator at the rank of Research Instructor or Research Assistant Professor. This position is non-clinical and suitable for doctoral level applicants with relevant training and expertise. At a minimum, the position will require prior experience in implementation science as evidenced by a relevant post-doctoral position or dissemination and implementation science training (e.g., NIH TIDIRH program, university training or certificate program) and a degree in a health science or related field. The incumbent may receive additional training through the CU Dissemination & Implementation Science Graduate Certificate Program.

Responsibilities:

* Perform investigator and principal investigator functions, including:

o Design, execute, and evaluate research to optimize implementation of interventions to improve military medical personnel training and skill sustainment, implementation of evidence-based practices, and military health care system level change

o Serve as subject matter expert to select appropriate study design and methodology in collaboration with COMBAT associated investigators

o Formulate research questions in alignment with lab focus areas and stakeholder needs

o Assess and establish feasibility of proposed studies (e.g., synthesizing preliminary data, discussions with stakeholders)

o Lead the drafting, writing, and submission of research grants to federal and non-federal sponsors

o Lead scholarly writing and dissemination, which may include, but not be limited, to the following areas:

* Scientific abstracts

* Stakeholder reports, meetings, and presentations

* Peer-reviewed manuscripts

* Deliver presentations to diverse audiences

o Serve as a mentor and teacher to learners and junior team members, including:

* Research services professionals

* Resident physicians

* PhD and Masters students

o Participate as a core member of the Department's research faculty

o Other research-relevant duties as assigned to promote the mission and vision of the Department of Emergency Medicine

The Center facilitates the execution of collaborative combat and deployment-relevant research by fostering relationships among military scientists, clinical investigators, combat leaders, and field operators to produce successful innovations, materiel solutions, and knowledge products of high impact to the warfighter and the medics.

The Department of Emergency Medicine and Center for COMBAT Research are excited to recruit a doctoral-level researcher with experience in dissemination and implementation science to contribute to research design, successful transition of research results to military stakeholders, and implementation of evidence-based practices to improve training and sustainment of medical personnel knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position will serve as a key part of the Center for COMBAT Research team. The researcher in this position will be appointed to, and build a career in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado in collaboration with other Departments and Schools on Campus.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, MD, DO, DrPH, DPT)
  • Experience in implementation science as evidenced by a relevant post-doctoral position or dissemination and implementation science training (e.g., TIDRH, MT-DIRC, IRI, university certificate or degree completion)
  • Track record of publications relevant to implementation science
  • Prior work on a multi-disciplinary research team


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working with military populations or understanding military culture and medical training
  • Track record of critical injury and illness, trauma, emergency medicine, and/or psychological health clinical research
  • Experience with application of D&I theories, models, and frameworks and assessment of implementation outcomes using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods is especially valuable.
  • Experience studying multi-level behavioral change, optimization of training and education program changes, and/or barriers to dissemination/implementation of best practices
  • Statistics training and experience in mixed qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Experience with community and partner engagement and co-design methods
  • Prior grant funding as PI or Co-I
  • Experience with human subjects medical research and an understanding of medical terminology

This is an in-person position on the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$85,000 - $125,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.

Source of Funding

This position will be funded by the Center for COMBAT Research operational funds for the first three-years, transitioning to 100% grant funded by three years of employment.
