GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Technical Analyst, Quality (Lab) is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and auditing of the DaVita Labs Quality Management System and Quality Assurance programs in accordance with Federal and State regulations, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Agency (CLIA) and Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP). This position identifies opportunities, develops plans, and executes projects to ensure Continuous Quality Improvements meet CLIA and GCLP guidelines as well as clinical regulatory requirements of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) in collaboration with the clinical lab lane leaders and teammates. This position adheres to corporate standard policies and procedures related to job performance, customer interactions, employee relations, and information confidentiality. The position also reviews and maintains technical documents supporting the clinical lab and operations. This position reports to the Manager, Quality (Lab).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the Quality Management System (including but not limited to):

  • Reviews and monitors clinical laboratory documents to ensure laboratory regulatory compliance. Collaborates with lane leaders to verify appropriate documentation represents the requirements for the tasks reviewed.
  • Review projects, test plans, reference documents, and research articles to gain knowledge and experience.
  • Continuous improvement recommendations based on data analysis
  • Participate in transactions in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and actively collaborate in procedural reviews seeking lane specific expertise as needed.
  • Lead and/or actively participate in special projects to ensure quality
  • Review existing laboratory and business processes to identify
  • Prepare and distribute reports for external partners and vendors to manage quality projects and programs
  • Actively engage in departmental continuous improvement/quality initiatives
  • Review change requests for potential impact on quality
  • Review planned deviations and Something Happened Intake form (SHIF) for potential impact on quality
  • Review corrected results for potential impact
  • Provide direct QA support for laboratory operations and closely integrated functions

Deviation or nonconformance management

  • Investigation
  • Tracking
  • Development of corrective action/preventative action plans
  • Follow up on action plans tracking/reporting of events and actions plans

Execution of audit program (including but not limited to internal, client, regulatory, and accrediting agency audits)

  • Independently plan and execute audits
  • Audit preparation
  • Assemble and distribute audit findings
  • Develop, compile, and execute responses to audit findings
  • Track audit findings to closure

Responsible for quality related metrics

  • Analyze and track metrics related to quality
  • Partners with clinical lab lanes to train, monitor data and recommend technical feedback on instrument validations/verifications, proficiency testing and instrument QC programs to ensure accurate patient testing; recommends remedial actions based on findings as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 6 years clinical lab experience - required
  • Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, biological sciences or related field - required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project and Visio - required
  • Knowledge/ experience with CLIA, CAP, GCLP or other regulatory standards - required
  • Team leadership experience - preferred
