The Clinical Support Services Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of clinical support staff, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of clinical services. This role involves supervising a team of clinical support professionals, such as OR Hospital Assistants (ORHA) and Patient Specialty Services Tech (PSST), ensuring high-quality patient care, adherence to clinical protocols, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Support Supervisor will collaborate with support services leadership, OR clinical leadership and other departments to enhance operational workflow and contribute to the continuous improvement of patient care services. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead, supervise, and provide
guidance to OR clinical support staff, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and policies. - Conduct regular performance
evaluations and provide coaching and training to OR clinical support staff. - Ensure appropriate staffing levels
for OR clinical support teams, scheduling shifts and adjusting as needed. - Ensure efficient workflow of patient
care services and prioritize clinical tasks based on urgency and patient needs.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and implement training
programs for OR clinical support staff, ensuring proficiency in clinical procedures, patient care protocols, and the use of clinical technologies. - Stay updated on industry trends,
guidelines, and best practices, incorporating relevant changes into staff training and development.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Monitor compliance with healthcare
regulations, internal policies, and accreditation standards. - Ensure clinical support staff follow
infection control, safety, and confidentiality procedures. - Assist in preparing for audits,
inspections, and regulatory reviews.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as a liaison between clinical
support staff and other departments, facilitating communication and resolving issues or concerns. - Collaborate with clinical and
administrative staff to improve overall service delivery and patient experience. - Act as a point of contact for
patients and families regarding clinical support services.
- Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
- Address and resolve conflicts or
issues related to clinical support staff performance, patient care, or operational concerns. - Identify areas for improvement in
clinical processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records and
documentation related to clinical support activities, staffing, and patient care. - Assist in effective payroll,
scheduling and making modifications as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of UCLA Ronald Reagan OR clinical
operations, healthcare regulations, and quality assurance standards. - Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal, and
communication skills. - Ability to manage a diverse team and handle
challenging situations with professionalism and empathy. - Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR)
systems and other clinical management software.
