Position description

The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery (https://surgery.ucsd.edu/), Division of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery, and Center for Learning and Excellence in Vascular & Endovascular Research (CLEVER), are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seek applicants for Project Scientist positions.

The Department of Surgery is a leader in research and patient care, dedicated to providing expert, compassionate treatment, conducting cutting-edge research, and training future top surgeons and scientists. The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery supports this mission with a broad clinical research portfolio, including investigational device and drug studies, medical management research, and post-approval trials. With over ten funded clinical trials and six Vascular Surgeon investigators, their work integrates research, education, and patient care. The CLEVER lab contributes by leading national clinical trials and performing high-quality data analyses using national databases like Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) and Vascular Implant Surveillance & Interventional Outcomes Network (VISION).

The selected candidates will be part of a highly collaborative environment with exposure to multiple scientific disciplines and levels of researchers, including students, residents, fellows, and clinicians.

The successful candidates will design and conduct clinical outcome research and trials, and will also mentor and teach trainees in research methods and lab techniques.

Appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent.

Candidates must have at least 2 years post-doctoral research experience in health sciences or related fields.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with 1+ years of experience using surgical databases and statistical software are preferred.
