Senior Staff, Resident Network Engineer Government Clearance requirement: Please only apply IF you have a TS/SCI with CI Polygraph Reporting to the Manager of Advanced Services, Americas, this is a highly technical role, providing post-sales on-site support for Juniper's networking products. The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed within the customer's network. Location: Onsite - Chantilly, VA Responsibilities This is a 40 hour per week position, on-site at and may require occasional travel, and possibly after-hours support for critical issues, which will be compensated with comp time.
- Serve as SME on Juniper products and technologies.
- Understand the customer's organizational structure, become familiar with customer's network implementation, and support procedures and help drive to the highest level of network availability.
- Carry out testing of new designs, features, and functionality in a laboratory environment and help develop implementation plans to ensure proper operation in live production network.
- Validate patches and fixes to operating system software that ensure they are implemented and functioning correctly in pre-production, test, and live networks.
- Troubleshoot equipment and network problems and initiate and track JTAC cases through to problem resolution.
- Produce written summary reports of design projects, equipment, and network problems on a regular basis to the customer.
- Hold network information gathering workshops with the customer to understand their existing network design and technical requirements for new network deployments.
- Train the customer's design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate their Juniper Networks products.
- Peer with other employees performing similar resident engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.
- Develop secondary skills in other products in the customer network.
Requirements:

- Security Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
- Highly technical role providing pre/post-sales Engineering Design/Architecture, Operational, and Support of Juniper products within the customer infrastructure.
- The candidate must have a detailed understanding of protocols used for IP service provider networks and demonstratable technical expertise in the configuration, troubleshooting and operation of IP based routers, switches, and security devices.
- Security+ certification is required. CASP or CISSP would work.
- Juniper products to be supported: MX, EX, QFX, SRX
Qualifications
- 10+ years of deep understanding of routing and switching protocols: OSPF, BGP/MP-BGP, MPLSRSVP, Class of Service (COS).
- Direct knowledge of L2 and L3 multicast deployments.
- Certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCIE
- Support routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control records.
- Configure and test hardware, networking software and operating system software.
- Participate in evaluation of new network technologies and makes recommendations to network architecture team regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network.
- Ensures that plans for hardware and communications are adequate.
- Develops and implements methodologies for analysis, testing, and support of LAN and WAN networks.
- Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components.
- Support operations and maintain activities and administer networks including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
- Perform long term O&M activities to include tier 3 troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and correct problems in the network while maintaining logs and records associated with reported problems or situations.
- Prepare troubleshooting procedures for restoring the network to optimal performance levels.
- Assess and document current site network configuration and user requirements.

Minimum Salary: $159,104.00 Maximum Salary:$228,712.00 The pay range for this position is expected to be between $159,104.00 and $228,712.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave.
