The 8T Orthopedics/ Neuroscience unit is comprised of 32 acute care private rooms with telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry capability to care for post-surgical and medical overflow patients. Within our fast-paced setting, we utilize an interdisciplinary team approach that includes close collaboration with physical and occupational therapists to elevate the education and care of this population. The unit has a gym for patients to learn the skills needed for a safe discharge. We proudly maintain Joint Commission certification in both Hip and Knee Replacements.

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
2. Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
3. Must hold Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

1. BSN degree
2. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
3. Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
4. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
