Incident Commanders (IC)

Summary:

Applied Training Solutions, LLC (ATS) is actively seeking candidates to fulfill the role of Exercise Support Service Incident Commanders. Incident Commander(s) will perform roles and responsibilities as a member of an incident management team in support of training and evaluations. The defined roles/responsibilities require Incident Commander candidates to possess Subject Matter Expertise, and the minimum qualifications for this position are listed below.

Responsibilities:



  • Perform roles and duties as an IC in hazardous materials emergencies above the initial response and implement a National Incident Management System (NIMS)-based Incident Command System (ICS).
  • IC for both single and unified commands.
  • Responsible for providing direction and purpose to the Incident Command Staff and integrating military forces in support of the incident.


Qualifications:



  • Associate degree or higher in fire science, chemistry, engineering, business or related field of study.
  • Successful completion of FEMA ICS 300 and ICS 400 courses.
  • Possess five (5) years operational experience performing emergency response Incident Commander operations in metropolitan areas with more than 50,000-person population.
  • Possess Hazardous Material First Responder Incident Commander Level certification. Incident commanders shall have received at least 24 hours of training equal to the first responder operations level and in addition have competency in the following areas:

    • Know and be able to implement the employer's incident command system.
    • Know how to implement the employer's emergency response plan.
    • Know and understand the hazards and risks associated with employees working in chemical protective clothing.
    • Know how to implement the local emergency response plan.
    • Know of the state emergency response plan and of the Federal Regional Response Team.
    • Know and understand the importance of decontamination procedures.
