Bevilacqua Research Corporation (BRC) is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Small Business based in Huntsville, Alabama incorporated in 1992. BRC provides "best-value" technical and management solutions to a diverse government and commercial customer base in the following key business areas: test & evaluation, systems analysis & integration, security & intelligence, and R&D. This position is part of the Space Exploration Group (JSEG) support to the NASA EM32 Welding & Manufacturing (W&M) team under the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract to the NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate. Responsibilities: The primary focus of this position is manufacturing large aluminum aerospace structures using both friction stir welding and fusion welding processes. Education and experience relevant to this position will be evaluated from that perspective. The position's primary responsibilities are to: 1. Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles. 2. Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new welding processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses. 3. Prepare technical reports resulting from research and development. 4. Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-weld heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods and welding of critical joints. 5. Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials. 6. Serve as project lead engineer to manage specific assigned customer welding development and manufacturing development projects. 7. Help other EM32 W&M Team customers understand and resolve problems related to their welding manufacturing processes. The selected candidate will perform work under the guidance of more senior engineers/scientists. The selected candidate will perform assignments designed to develop professional working knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering/science tasks. The selected candidate may be assisted by technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments. As development progresses and where appropriate, routine assignments may be performed independently and results reviewed for accuracy. For non-routine work or to resolve difficult problems, the supervisor provides techniques and procedures to be applied. |
