University Health Physicians (UHP) is the physician group practice for the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC) in conjunction with its major teaching facility. UMKC supports several residencies and many of our physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students. UHP is also the primary physician group for Truman Medical Centers/University Health in Kansas City, MO. known as "Kansas City's Essential Hospital," it is the safety net healthcare system for Jackson County/Kansas City, MO. Job Description University Health Physicians and University Health is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our medical staff and to provide psychiatric services mainly at our Lakewood BHAC (inpatient psychiatric hospital unit). We are looking at several possible iterations of this position. The preference of the hire in conjunction with the needs of the department will determine which we use: Full-time inpatient staff and primary provider of care: Will be the leader of a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychologists, nurses, recreational therapists and medical social workers. Previously also had psychiatry residents and medical students, but this may no longer be the case. Other duties may include providing consultation liaison coverage at the Lakewood Medical Center, collaborating with advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) and possibly providing occasional supplemental coverage when TMC BHAC staff is on vacation, as they will provide coverage during this position's PTO. Half-time inpatient and half-time outpatient: As above, but lower case load and spending afternoons working at University Health Behavioral Health Lakewood Counseling, which is one of s outpatient behavioral health locations. This office provides care to adults and children to a suburban community. Half-time inpatient and half-time outpatient: Working as supervisor and collaborator for APRN's and/or physician assistants enrolled in a developing fellowship for training in the acute inpatient setting. The position would involve much less direct primary care of patients spending, but supervising/teaching, much as one would do with residents. Outpatient behavioral care in the afternoon at University Health Behavioral Health Lakewood Counseling. Participation in hospital-based committees and providing lectures to other medical specialties is encouraged. The qualified candidate will have graduated from an accredited medical school, completing a residency in psychiatry. UHP provides a comprehensive benefits package and competitive compensation.
