JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for professional track (non-tenure track) teaching faculty positions. The positions will be filled at the Assistant Teaching Professor or Associate Teaching Professor rank, depending on the successful candidates' qualifications. Duties will include undergraduate teaching, curricular development, curricular assessment, and committee assignments. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, theory, computer systems design and programming, and introductory and intermediate programming (Python, Java). The Assistant Teaching Professor should possess a terminal degree or its equivalent in an academic field related to his/her teaching specialization; alternatively, the Assistant Teaching Professor without a terminal degree should possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent in an academic field related to their teaching specialization; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher and adviser; and must have shown evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter. The Associate Teaching Professor should possess a terminal degree in an academic field related to their teaching specialization; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher and adviser; and must have shown evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter. Alternatively, the Associate Teaching Professor without a terminal degree should possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent in an academic field related to their teaching specialization; must have demonstrated exceptional ability as a teacher and adviser while in the rank of senior lecturer or instructor; and must have shown evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of subject matter at a level of distinction beyond that of the Assistant Teaching Professor. This is a term appointment, funded for three years from date of hire, with a possibility of renewal.
