ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Loan Review Officer is responsible for performing various duties in the ongoing management of credit risk. The incumbent performs and directs reviews of the bank's commercial, consumer, and real estate loans to ensure compliance with established policies and standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:



  • Perform independent reviews of commercial, agriculture, and commercial real estate loans to identify risks and validate the bank's risk rating systems.
  • Conduct continuous reviews of all types of commercial loans and commitments.
  • Validate underwriting assigned risk ratings and test assessments of cash flow, repayment sources, and policy adherence.
  • Change risk ratings as appropriate based on identified risks.
  • Ensure booked loans conform to approved terms and structures and validate underwriters' actions.
  • Confirm loans are properly documented to meet bank and legal standards.
  • Prepare and present written reports summarizing findings and identified risks.
  • Investigate and present post-mortem reports on material credit losses to the Credit Governance Committee.
  • Perform independent reviews of small business loans and consumer/residential loans, ensuring adherence to policies and proper documentation.
  • Conduct impairment analysis and report on credit risk metrics to support the company's key risk indicator program.


WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three to five years banking experience required in commercial lending, regulatory examinations, or internal bank loan review.
  • Previous experience in commercial lending and/or loan review specific job training required.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking lending principles, policies, and practices.
  • Proficient consumer and commercial financial statement analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial, consumer, and residential real estate documentation standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office utilizing proper ergonomic safeguards when doing so. Additionally, the employee must occasionally lift or move supplies and materials up to 20 pounds.
