Overview

The Coors location of PRESNow is seeking an Ultrasound Specialist.

Performs General and Vascular ultrasound exams for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician.
Performs General ultrasound to include but not limited to abdominal, OB/Gyn, and small parts. Performs Vascular ultrasound to include but not limited to LEV, LEA, UEA, UEV, and Carotid exams.
Takes call as needed.

Qualifications

Other information:Other Information * High School Diploma or GED
*Two years of ultrasound specific college coursework, associate degree or diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
* Trade or vocational school in vascular ultrasound may be considered with previous general ultrasound training.
*ARDMS eligible and must have two ARDMS registries within two years of hire.
* Must hold and maintain current New Mexico State Licensure (DMS-NM) under the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program. Provisional or temp license may be considered.
* Current BLS required

Responsibilities

* Successful transmission of images to PACS/Medstream with appropriate associated documentation.
*Educates patient prior to scanning procedure explaining the procedure and answering patient questions.
*Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and ultrasound department policy such as blood pressures (pre and post exam) and post invasive procedure, patient follow up. Maintains records of exam data and other pertinent information on patients. Uses Radiology Information System, hospital information systems as required.
*Assists physician in such procedures as needle biopsies, amniocentesis, renal biopsies, etc. Scans patient, marks patient body, determines angle for puncture, assists as necessary. Has knowledge of and maintains sterile technique.
*Maintains established organizational radiology and ultrasound policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
*Positions and transfers patients comfortably.
*Assists in maintaining upkeep of department and equipment - including ordering and stocking supplies when necessary.
*Attends section staff meetings, pertinent in-services, workshops and/or seminars for continuing education to enhance professional growth and development.
*Participates in call rotation for ultrasound procedures.
*Works with, oversees and evaluates student ultrasound technologists
*Assesses the patient and correlates the clinical history with the test to be performed.
*Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.
*Performs ABI s (with and without exercise)
*Performs carotid duplex scans
*Performs lower extremity arterial scans, doppler and imaging
*Performs upper extremity arterial scans, doppler and imaging
*Performs abdominal aorta duplex imaging
*Performs lower extremity venous scans, doppler and imaging
*Performs upper extremity venous scans, doppler and imaging
*Performs groin studies
*Can accurately document and quantify all calculations and measurements of vascular parameters for inclusion in appropriate report forms.
*Recognizes the significance of all structures visualized on the monitor and is able to differentiate normal from abnormal and recognize artifacts. Understands when to seek advice.
*Prepares a summary of technical findings and reviews findings with technical director/chief technologist and/or interpreting physician.
*Maintains and documents emergent findings, when appropriate, and communicates these to physician.
*Reviews surgical and angiography reports to follow patient s progress and to provide a means of reviewing the accuracy of the cardiovascular laboratory examinations.
*Assists with employee schedules for staffing.
*Participates in staff education meetings and attends mandatory staff meetings.
*Assists with section clerical duties including initiation and completion of reports and charges.
*Participates in cleaning, general maintenance and upkeep of ultrasound machines and related equipment, probes, Trophon, etc
*Assists in the evaluation of new products and equipment and in research, development and formulation of new techniques for pertinent to all aspects of the ultrasound role.
*Learns, participates in performing, and maintains skills and education related to other relevant tasks in the facility to assist with patient care within the ultrasound tech scope of practice.
