Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an non-tenure track academic position in the division of Transfusion Medicine. The laboratory provides approximately 55,000 blood products annually to the University of Wisconsin Medical Center with support for comprehensive programs in cancer, transplantation and trauma. Successful applicant will be expected to staff the blood bank and apheresis services along with three other colleagues, participate in QA/QC activities, contribute actively to the teaching of residents, transfusion fellows and medical students, mentor trainees, and participate in continuing medical education programs. Opportunities for clinical laboratory directorships also are available. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.


Responsibilities:

The chosen candidate will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. The chosen candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

MD or DO or equivalent


Qualifications:

Fellowship training in transfusion medicine is required. Experience in a hospital-based Blood Bank and in therapeutic apheresis is essential.

For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.


License/Certification:

Required
MD - Physician - State Licensure
Unrestricted WI Medical License required by start date.

American Board of Pathology (ABP) board eligible or board certified in transfusion medicine.


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 70% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
