Job Description

Direct, help train, and assist Food Service Worker (FSW) III, FSW II, Snack Bar Attendant, FSW I, and student employees in food preparation and service; follow and ensure that employees follow proper food handling techniques. Maintain and ensure that employees maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and secure working area. Ensure that employees set up the service/preparation areas as assigned; ensure the cleaning and replenishing of the service/preparation area during and after service. Ensure the setup/service/preparation, operation, and cleanup of the dishwashing/pot-and-pan washing areas, as/if needed. Provide and ensure that others provide high-quality service to customers; assist in meeting the department's customer service objectives. Help the department constantly improve and reach its vision (commitment to excellence and passion for people). Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift

12:00 pm - 9:00 pm, alternating weekends

Minimum Qualifications

A job offer for this position is contingent on passing a physical examination to determine if the candidate possesses the physical capabilities necessary to perform the essential functions.
* Minimum experience requirement: completion of eighth grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
* Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
* Two years of experience in the preparation and service of food in an institutional or commercial food service facility, including some supervisory experience.
* Knowledge and demonstration of food preparation, including knife skills, and equipment, service and sanitation methods are required. To be considered for positions in Campus Dining Services, applicants must pass a culinary skills demonstration as part of the interview process.
* A desire to provide high quality customer service is strongly preferred.
* ServSafe certification desirable upon hire, or is able to be acquired within approximately six months of hire.
* Ability to handle and lift heavy kitchen utensils and supplies (e.g., 40 pounds).

Preferred Qualifications

ServSafe Certification preferred or acquired within the first six months.

Salary Range: $18.68 - $19.69
