Position Summary

The
College of Fine Arts Main Campus anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach
during the 2024-2025
academic year
in the DEPARTMENT OF ART within the Low-Residency Concentration of the
MFA program.

The
Low-Residency Concentration within the Studio MFA is
an interdisciplinary curriculum dedicated to regenerative culture.
Students in this concentration learn art and ecology, the ethics of
working in community, solidarity economics and regenerative cultural practices
as they develop their interdisciplinary art practices. Thirty credits of
coursework are shared with the Studio MFA, while thirty credits are part of a
specialized curriculum that each cohort of students moves through together.
Admitted students can live anywhere in the world and take this course of study,
as long as they can attend residencies twice a year and participate fully
in the cohort's critiques via Zoom. There will be two online courses: Art
History Research Methodologies and Writing, Art and Agency. The concentration
brings students to sites across the Americas during winter residencies for
field-based learning.

Positions
are contingent upon need
each semester as determined by student enrollment
levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation
requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up
to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are
selected for these positions will report to Department Chair, Scott Anderson.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
-to teach or develop courses in the field or subfield for which you are applying
are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for
faculty, and must be met by one of these ways:

  1. Terminal degree in the discipline or subfield ((MFA Studio Arts, PhD Art History, etc. ), or distinguished professional standing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
  2. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  3. A practical knowledge of specific aspects of regenerative culture that relates to the course the applicant may wish to teach, such as -- but not limited to -- ecology, social justice, solidarity economics, indigenous cultural practices, the post humanities, decolonial theory and practice, systems thinking and/or ecomaterialism.
