Position Summary
PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for a Nursing Lecturer position. We are one of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serve approximately 2200 students. Located in Gallup NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and Hopi Reservation. The city of Gallup has a population of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoor recreational activities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy, while maintaining a small-town feel.
UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full time and part-time faculty members. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor's degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves multiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School and the Center for Career and Technical Education.

Lecturers at UNM-G have career advancement opportunities that are outlined in the UNM Faculty Handbook and faculty union collective bargaining agreement.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach the standard course load for a Lecturer in the area of Nursing and Health Careers, maintain an active service record (as defined by the UA-UNM CBA), participate in monthly Division meetings and execute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through actively practicing inclusive behavior and proactively managing bias.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Terminal degree in Nursing or other related field
- Two or more years clinical nursing experience
- Experience teaching adults at the college level
- Demonstrated ability to work with groups in a collaborative atmosphere
- Additional experience in specialties, such as medical/surgical, ICU, ER, pediatric, obstetric and/or psychiatric nursing
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities

Finalists selected for an on-campus interview will be expected to give a teaching demonstration (approximately 20 minutes) to the division faculty on a relevant subject of their choosing.
