Join Our Team as a Supervisor of Maintenance and Construction!

Are you ready to lead a dynamic team of technical experts in the heart of the University of New Mexico's Facilities Management division? We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to oversee maintenance and construction projects across our vibrant campus. This position will primarily work at our Health Science Center which consists of 31 hospital buildings on UNM North Campus (near UNMH), and a few others spread across UNM. As a supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and inspiring our skilled multi-craft technical workforce specializing in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, and facilities services, ensuring every project meets our high standards of craftsmanship and quality. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive impactful improvements and plays a crucial role in the efficient operation and upkeep of our campus facilities at UNM and the Health Science Center.

What You'll Do:
Lead and Mentor: Supervise a talented team of technical personnel, guiding them to master their craft and excel in their roles.
Coordinate Projects: Organize workflows, prioritize assignments, and ensure deadlines are met with precision and efficiency.
Ensure Compliance: Inspect ongoing projects to guarantee adherence to plans and regulations, compiling detailed reports of daily activities.
Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with customers, project technicians, and external contractors to streamline operations and achieve timely project completions.
Estimate and Manage Costs: Independently assess job expenses for multi-trade projects, overseeing budget compliance and resource allocation.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Certification/Licensure:
Current NM licensure in one or more construction trades disciplines

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to effectively lead and supervise a diverse team of technical personnel, ideally in maintenance or construction fields.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge and experience in more than one relevant trade field: HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and structural maintenance, enabling informed guidance and support to technicians.
  • Project Management Skills: Demonstrated expertise in managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across various levels and departments.
  • Safety Focus: Commitment to promoting workplace safety and environmental practices, with a track record of implementing and enforcing safety procedures effectively.
