Position Summary

The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine (SOM)
Department of Surgery is seeking a board certified or board eligible
urologic surgeon with expertise in pediatrics to join the Department of
Surgery. This position is being recruited at an open rank, and open track;
salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

There are two current fellowship trained pediatric urologists
within the UNM Division of Urology who provide services for the entire state of
New Mexico. The division also includes fellowship-trained and specialized
urologists within the fields of oncology, reconstruction, robotics, endourology
and renal transplantation. This position would work closely with the residency
program. The UNM Division of Urology and Department of Surgery boast a
robust infrastructure of services and resources to help achieve academic goals,
and leadership opportunities are available.

UNM serves a large,
medically complex population and is a consultative resource for the state of
New Mexico and the Four Corners region of the Southwest United States. Pediatric clinical services are provided through
the main UNM Hospital, Carrie Tingley Outpatient Clinics and Pediatric
operating room in a separate wing, but attached to main adult hospital. The
UNM Health Science Center (HSC) is the largest academic health complex in the
state of New Mexico and is the only Level 1 trauma center. It is the state's
only site for urologic residency training. Located on the University of New
Mexico campus in beautiful Albuquerque, NM, the HSC combines its four mission
areas - educations, research, patient care and community outreach - to provide
New Mexicans with the highest level of health care.

New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment; the city of Albuquerque
is a beautiful city with mountain to the east and a mesa to the west. It is
ideal for outdoor activities and sports available year-round including running,
hiking, biking, golfing and skiing. The state is multicultural and diverse with
excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, multiple cultural and historic
sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Position:


  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board-certified/eligible in Urology through the American Board of Urology
  • Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification
  • Eligible for federal DEA registration
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.


Preferred Qualifications for Position:


  • Fellowship trained in pediatric urology
  • Experience in management of general pediatric urology disease processes
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
