ALS Instructor - Emergency Medical Services

Regions Hospital has an opportunity for a per diem Advanced (ALS) Instructor position.

The Advanced (ALS) Instructor is primarily responsible instruction of advanced level EMS courses, with the ability to play a lead role. This position instructs courses independently and cooperatively with per diem instructors. This position will instruct lay-rescuer, CPR, EMR, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic and some critical care level courses. The instructor must be able to develop curriculum at both the basic and advanced level and be able and willing to instruct at the basic level as needed. Advanced (ALS) Instructor duties include participation in mandatory development and preparatory meetings, preparation and clean-up of classroom and skills materials/equipment including driving to off-site locations, evaluation of material and active participation in the improvement of this material, taking a lead role when appropriate, and supporting program development and special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:



  • 2 years of teaching or mentoring experience prior to being hired.
  • 2 year full-time (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in pre-hospital, emergency or critical care settings


Licensure/ Registration/Certification:



  • Possess a valid driver's license and maintenance of a clean driving record in accordance to Regions Hospital standards and policies
  • Current NREMT, Minnesota or Wisconsin paramedic license -or-- Current Minnesota or Wisconsin nurse licensure


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to demonstrate core humanistic values such as compassion, empathy, timeliness, and careful delivery of service in all daily interactions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Functional understanding of operating multimedia presentations
  • Ability to communicate in person, in writing and by telephone
  • Aptitude to establish working relationships with the public, our medical direction customers and employees
  • Maintenance of professionalism and a standard of excellence with Regions employees, managers, customers and public
  • Competency to work independently, with autonomy and to meet deadlines
  • Keen sense of organization and prioritization
  • Working knowledge of pre-hospital medicine, the MN EMSRB and WI DHS requirements, the American Heart Association, and national registry standards
