Overview

BRPH is looking for a Architect for our Charleston, South Carolina office location. The ideal candidate will have experience working on large facility manufacturing and industrial design type projects.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Perform advanced design and coordination assignments demonstrating complex professional architectural work knowledge and abilities. Assignments require sound independent judgment and are often of a non-routine, complex nature.
  • Make decisions independently on architectural problems and represent the company by resolving important questions and coordinating the work. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work result from progressive experience and education.
  • Provide regular communication and close coordination with teammates in other offices. Check work prepared by drafters, designers, and other staff members including drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare reports, specifications, and plans for projects.
  • Assignments usually include complex tasks with limited technical guidance on non-standard issues. Must coordinate and help resolve conflicts with other disciplines based on a sound understanding of the design process. Assignments may include managerial tasks of both project and personnel nature.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Has sound understanding of codes and standards and can research code issues, present interpretations, and properly apply them in daily work.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of construction techniques.
  • Performs Life Safety and Code Analysis and prepares Life Safety Plans.
  • Visit construction site to review, monitor, and report progress and perform other construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, attending construction site meetings, reviewing RFI's, and preparing ASI's per the contract documents.
  • Regular site visits to Charleston area construction site are required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer. Use company computer-assisted drafting and design software and equipment to prepare architectural and design documents. Has working knowledge of Revit to produce designs into final drawings.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and colleagues through clear and proactive communication.
  • Assist in preparing design budgets and marketing proposals.


Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Ten years of experience as an architect
  • Preferably passed all licensing exams and be certified as a Professional Registered Architect
  • Preferably able to sign and seal construction documents.
  • Must have experience in managing midsize to large projects.
  • Experience with aviation or manufacturing projects a plus.
  • Proven experience involving Project Programming and Design.

CERTIFICATE, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS:

Possess a Certificate of Licensed Registered Architect or be on the path to licensure.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
