Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cybersecurity Technical Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading our customer's cybersecurity efforts, including the development and implementation of secure system solutions, the management of cybersecurity incidents, and the enhancement of our overall cybersecurity posture. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background in cybersecurity technologies and practices.

A week in the life of a Cybersecurity Technical Lead:



  • Ability to understand DoD and DHA policies and procedures and be able to write to system specific RMF documentation
  • Manage day to day Cybersecurity activities to provide input into systems, processes, and procedures
  • Oversee RMF processes and develop weekly and monthly reports for Continuous Monitoring and auditing
  • Attend meetings with Government customers and AMERICAN SYSTEMS staff as needed (mostly virtual, but may require face to face in the DC area)
  • Manage an IT systems Incident Response and Disaster Recovery plan, conducting yearly tabletop exercises
  • Daily interaction with Project Teams via phone, email, SharePoint, and MS Teams
  • Plan, implement, upgrade, or monitor security measures for the protection of computer networks and information.
  • Ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safe guard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure. May respond to computer security breaches and viruses.
  • Provide technical/management leadership on major tasks and technology assignments. Establish goals and plans that meet project objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Advanced Degree is a Plus!
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAM Level II Certification (ISC2 CISSP, ISACA CISM, or equivalent) Excellent understanding of the Risk Management Framework for DoD
  • Understanding of Federal Government cybersecurity policy (DoDI 8500.01)
  • Expert knowledge in implementation of cybersecurity solutions that comply with federal Government information security standards and procedures in deployed and non-deployed environments to include Risk Management Framework (RMF), Authority to Operate/Connect documentation, Assess and Authorize processes,B53 and protection of personally identifiable information and health care information
  • Expert knowledge in performing analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures
  • Expert knowledge with implementation of security engineering and architecture
  • Expert knowledge of DOD and Army legacy and future Operational Medical software applications
  • Expert knowledge in DevSecOps and Agile Cybersecurity methodologies in accordance with DoD and Army regulation, policies, and procedure
  • Experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer
  • Experience with Windows and RHEL operating systems
  • Experience with common security programs (ACAS, SPLUNK, ePolicy Orchestrator)
  • Experience with eMASS

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - 150,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
