Job Summary

The Graham Center (GC) at Florida International University seeks dedicated Student Operations Assistants to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the smooth operations and positive atmosphere of the Graham Center by providing essential support in maintaining our facilities and assisting with event logistics. With a focus on delivering high-quality service to all GC guests, the Student Operations Assistant is a vital member of our professional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facility Maintenance and Cleanliness: Proactively clean meeting, event, and general spaces to uphold the GC's standards for cleanliness and orderliness. This includes vacuuming, mopping, cleaning tables and chairs, and changing trash.
  2. Event and Meeting Support: Assist with the set-up and breakdown of meetings and events, ensuring spaces are prepared according to specific needs and timelines. This includes the set-up and breakdown of staging, dance floors, tables, chairs, pipe, drape, etc.
  3. Safety Reporting: Actively report any safety and security concerns to the appropriate personnel, contributing to the overall safety of the GC environment.
  4. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the custodial team and other GC staff members to deliver seamless facility operations and event support.
  5. Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional customer service to all GC guests and customers, ensuring their needs are met promptly and effectively.
  6. Additional Support: Assist GC leadership as required, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving abilities.

  • Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
  • Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.

Flexible schedule based off facility needs/hours of operations. Up to 20 hours a week.
