Uses advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across the function, research initiative, program and / or organization. Develops and oversees the implementation of new programs and processes.

The Accreditation Program Manager manages all national and regional accreditation processes for the School of Medicine's Undergraduate Medical Education program and its three regional campues at UC Berkeley, UC Merced and UCSF Fresno.

Duties include working with faculty and staff leadership across the School of Medicine and its three regional campuss to meet key milestones for accreditation and project managing faculty and task forces to ensure deadlines are met.

The accreditation program manager reports to the Office of Medical Education's Chief of Staff and plays a critical leadership role in the School of Medicine, working closely with faculty leadership including the Associate Dean for Assessment, Improvement and Accreditation, Director of Program Evaluation, Educational, Continuous Quality Improvement and other members of the education team.

The Accreditation Manager also manages the School of Medicine's education's training affiliation program, working closely with campus legal counsel and UCSF's Government Contracts team and Business Contracts unit to ensure affiliation agreements are completed and processed according to accreditation requirements.

The ideal candidate is creative, proactive, and solution-focused, with excellent written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is expected to have prior experience working in project/grant management and drafting powerpoint slides, memos and talking points for faculty leadership.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $97,900 - $149,000 (Annual Rate).

The School of Medicine's Office of Medical Education (OME) oversees all health professions education programs for the school of medicine which includes over 2000 teaching faculty, 715 enrolled medical students, 1800 residents and fellows and over 30,000 continuing education activities each year. The Office of Medical Education sets all strategic directives for medical education across the UCSF's education enterprise and its three regional campuses at UC Berkeley, UC Merced, and UCSF Fresno. OME is responsible for ensuring the highest quality learning and teaching environment for our programs and supports the professional development of over 115 staff.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area including public policy, public administration, public health, law, grant administration and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience managing complex programs in higher education or coordinating a relevant program that provides project management or technical expertise to faculty administrators/dean. Relevant experience includes project management, educational quality improvement, compliance, accreditation or contract and grant management.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills. Ability to prioritize personal and team tasks and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Advanced personal organization skills and ability to apply to administration of the entire program including organizing critical files for compliance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing; demonstrated experience creating presentation slides or memos for leadership.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree or JD in related area including public policy, public administration, public health, law, grant administration and/or equivalent experience/training. Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs (e.g. qualtrics, smartsheet, asana).
  • Advanced knowledge of UCSF relevant policies and LCME regulatory requirements. Advanced knowledge of a health professions education program curriculum and requirements. Maintains a broad range of expertise in health professions education theory and industry best practices.
