The Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in fall semester of 2025, to strengthen our missions in audiology and hearing science. We are searching for a scholar whose work focuses on hearing disorders; attractive areas of scholarship include but are not limited to: hearing aids, rehabilitative audiology, and hearing assessment. A core value of the department is broadening the representation of a wide range of individuals and perspectives in the profession of audiology and speech-language pathology across all possible dimensions of diversity. Therefore we are committed to attracting and supporting candidates who can demonstrate inclusion of historically underrepresented groups, knowing that diversity enriches the academic experience and provides a knowledge base for innovation. Appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year (late-August to late-May). Appointment will be made at the rank of tenure-track assistant professor. About the Department
About the Department The department is strongly committed to community engagement and advancing an understanding of cultural and individual diversity in society (e.g., diversity related to age, ability/disability, ethnicity, gender identity, gender expression, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status). We host a Diversity in Communication Specialty Program for graduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology to guide the development of in-depth knowledge and skills within a specific, diversity-related, area of interest. Faculty research and teaching in this area are strongly supported at the unit and collegiate levels. Information can be found here: Many faculty collaborate with university-wide centers, including the Center for Applied and Translational Sensory Sciences, the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain, Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute and the Center for Clinical Movement Disorders.
