Job Summary

The Security Specialist III is an advanced level position made up of several components as follows: SCIF Access Control Service, Registry, Workforce Support Center and Key Control, Visitor Control, Transportation Service, Conference Center, and Escort Services. journeyman level position.

Primary Duties

May be assigned to work at either the St. Louis or Arnold facility during normal hours from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends and/or nights hours may be required to support night projects or emergencies. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review:

SCIF

  • Provide access control service, complies with NGA/DOD/Intelligence Community Directives/Regulations, and guidance. Communicates with NGA Police and Government Site Security. Often, provides security reports.

Registry

  • Receive, wrap, and ship classified material using FEDEX, UPS, Postal Service, and DCS. Populates and maintains related database. Create Courier Cards and Couriers classified information within active region.

Workforce Support Center

  • Employees accurately create, issue, collect Intelligence Badges, Common Access Cards, Keys, Hangtags, Visits, Mobility Scooters and Passport Photos use several computer systems and software like the Security Management System, Access Database, PeopleSoft, RAPIDS/DEERS, and other systems. Employee will assist customers on a wide range of topics and be prepared to respond to all customer questions. Process clearances for visits.

Transportation Service

  • Support Ride Finders and Share-A-Ride. Participates in Fairs.

Visitor Control Center

  • Issue appropriate level Temporary Intelligence Community (IC) identification badges to visitors and employees. Maintain logs and provide reports.

Conference Center

  • Provide access control to ensure only authorized personnel are granted access to the facility. Generates furniture se-up work requests and monitors facility for cleanliness and initiates work requests for non-functioning or broken items. Oversees facility security, and safety.

Escort

  • Ensure uncleared personnel whom they are assigned are always monitored, have no exposure to classified data, and comply with security regulations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support quality control activities and reports findings to supervisor. Follows Performance Work Statement Guidelines.

  • Maintain communication in the conduct of daily duties using two-way radio.

  • Process Non-Disclosure Agreements.

  • Issue AIS Passes

  • Respond to and investigates all security alarms, security problems, and system tests within 10 minutes to determine if the alarm is

  • considered an "unauthorized entry" or "false alarm."

  • Open/close alarmed doors.

  • Provide support for special events as requested by Site Security Office or COR.

  • Maintain and monitor access and end-of day control/inspection logs.

  • Issue Camera and Radio Passes.

  • Provide Non-Duty-Hour Activity report to the Security Police.

  • Report SMS problems to the SMS Administrator. Store all Non-Duty-Hour reports in a shared folder designed by the government.

  • Assist and coordinate office moves taking place in secure areas.

  • Maintain database of all security containers and vault combinations. Provide NGA Police with new records the day the changes are made at both St. Louis and Arnold Sites.

  • Conduct briefings as required to include escorting, registry, construction review, key issuance, etc.

  • Responsible for conducting and supporting Rideshare/Ride Finders Fairs. Maintains associated database.

  • Assist with the investigation of security incidents and inspections.

  • Maintain file of all access control logs for a period of two years. Use NGA Form 5212.8

  • Submit work requests as appropriate for repair/restoration of any damaged or broken security alarm equipment.

  • Inspect and issue SCIF Furniture Removal Authorization Labels after inspecting all drawers of office furniture leaving SCIF space.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)

  • A high school diploma or state certified equivalent is required.

  • Certification as a RAPIDS/DEERS Verifying Official at Visitor Control required.

  • 4-5 years security related experience required.

  • Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work related travel preferred. Eligible drives must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR). along with a good motor vehicle.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI polygraph required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be knowledgeable with and able to access and operate a Security Management System.

  • Must be knowledgeable with and able to access and operate various clearance websites.

  • Must be able to work with people internally and externally at all levels of an organization.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software.

  • Ability to effectively communicate.

  • Must be detail-oriented and carry out work with the highest levels of accuracy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; and talk, hear answer phones, keyboarding, open and close wall dividers, arm and disarm alarms, operate combination locks, and open and closing of buildings. The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit. The employee may occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
