Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician II to support Sentara PACE!

Location: Sentara Independence (Virginia Beach)

Status: Fulltime (40 hrs)

Hours: M-F 8:30am-5:00pm

No Holidays or Weekends!

This position involves working with a small team and communicating with providers and nurses instead of directly communicating with patients.

Required qualifications:

  • Virginia Pharmacy Technician license
  • CPhT license through PTCB or NHA -required if licensed in VA after 7/1/2021

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1 year hospital Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Long Term Care Pharmacy experienced
  • Familiar with pill packs and blister packs

Job responsibilities:

  • Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist
  • Measure, mix, count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders
  • Responsible for managing the drug distribution system and providing technical support in all aspects of the delivery of safe, effective, patient-focused, and cost-efficient drug therapy

Job Summary

Prepares medications under the direction/supervision of a pharmacist. Responsible for managing the drug distribution system and providing technical support in all aspects of the delivery of safe, effective, patient-focused, and cost-efficient drug therapy. Displays the ability to perform and maintain a higher level of competency in all technician tasks and functions. Serves as trainer and mentor for the Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliance with Sentara Commitments and provide quality service. In addition to Tech II responsibilities, specializes in gaining full proficiency in at least one specific area of discipline.

VA OR NC (depending upon state location) Pharmacy Technician Registration Number and PTCB or NHA Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

1-year hospital pharmacy technician experience required
