JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Engineering Research Administration (OERA) in Penn State's College of Engineering is seeking a dynamic, hardworking, and skilled professional for a Pre-Award Coordinator (Proposal and Award Generalist - Intermediate Professional) position. The successful candidate will report to a Senior Pre-Award Coordinator and work in a large-volume, fast-paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment.

The College of Engineering is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review, analyze, and submit proposals, contracts, and grants to various federal, state, and local agencies, as well as private corporations and foundations.

  • Advise faculty and staff in interpreting and adhering to sponsor and university guidelines and regulations.

  • Serve as a liaison with sponsors and other university offices on behalf of faculty and staff.

  • Facilitate communication to promote research.

  • Provide exceptional customer service.

Education and Experience:

  • This position requires an Associate's Degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • This position requires flexibility and self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize among a large number of tasks. Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Capability to work both independently and as a team member and the ability to multi-task and respond professionally in challenging situations is essential.

  • Experience with electronic proposal submission sites, Microsoft Excel and Word, and SIMS (Strategic Information Management System) Budgets is preferred.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
