Position Summary University College will hire two Lecturers to teach courses in the Academic Communities Program and Liberal Arts and Integrative Studies Program (LAIS) beginning in the Fall semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. We are seeking two motivated faculty members to engage in problem-solving, curriculum design, technology implementation, and student support. The ideal candidates will be able to teach college success courses within the Academic Communities Program as well as other courses that contribute to both programs, possibly Foundational Math or LAIS courses such as the introduction to integrative studies, experiential learning, capstone independent study, and interdisciplinary theory and practice. The Lecturers will report to the Associate Dean for Faculty and Staff Development in University College. The initial one-year appointment of this position begins August 11, 2025, with possible renewals. The Academic Communities Program serves a diverse group of students with an emphasis on supporting students' first-year transition into university life. The program provides community-based classes dedicated to helping first-year students develop: The Liberal Arts & Integrative Studies (LAIS) program is ideal for students with academic and career aspirations that benefit from study across multiple academic subjects. Historically, the BA in LAIS has attracted many students who feel restricted by the specialized nature of traditional degree programs and want to combine two, three, or more academic disciplines. Other students, particularly those returning to the university after years away, or those with full-time jobs, choose this degree because it has more flexibility to combine courses into themed concentrations.
