The Multimedia Content Specialist helps support the Office of Marketing and Communication's core mission of elevating the reputation of UVA Wise while promoting and strengthening its brand locally, regionally, and nationally. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications, the incumbent helps deliver high-quality photo and video collateral as well as digital outreach in order to ensure the successful and consistent implementation and advancement of the UVA Wise brand. They have responsibility for day-to-day coordination and execution of photography, social media, and related projects. RESPONSIBILITIES: Produce visual content for sharing UVA Wise with key audiences:
- Using direction from existing brand collateral and guidelines and the College's marketing and communications plans, the successful candidate will produce, capture, edit and publish photography as well as other forms of visual storytelling included, but not limited to: videos, slideshows, etc. Photography will be used in print and digital projects and should span from headshots to news and feature photography.
- Coordinate and manage shoots with external partners, including professional photographers, videographers, university colleagues, as well as with internal partners. This includes pre-production planning through post-shoot editing as well as communication with key partners from creative brief/scope stage through post-production revisions.
- Provide quick turnaround on photos and video clips for use with media outlets.
- Assist in photography trainings (and other best practices of visual storytelling) with teammates in the Office of Marketing and Communications and across campus.
- Maintain and organize assets including photos and video footage.
Manage the College's social media presences to engage key audiences:
- With input from the AVC of Marketing and Communications and key teammates, the successful candidate will develop and implement a measurable social media strategy for the College's social channels to support UVA Wise's communications and marketing goals. This will include engaging with multiple audiences, including prospective students, current students, alumni and friends, collaborative organizations, and others and partnering with staff within the Marketing and Communications team. This responsibility involves developing tactical campaigns and content calendars that advance organizational goals. This includes both staying abreast of current research on how various audiences derive knowledge from social media to ensure UVA Wise is taking full advantage of all its social media opportunities as well as monitoring social analytics to ensure goals are being achieved.
- Take primary responsibility for day-to-day tactics, monitoring, and management of the College's central social channels, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, and emerging social platforms. Alert colleagues on the marketing and communications team of postings.
- While delivering content and campaigns, work with other social managers across campus to align branding across all social platforms and across campus departments.
Contribute to advancing the reputation of UVA Wise by participating as a team member in the Office of Marketing and Communications:
- Working on a creative in-house marketing and communications team means cultivating strong relationships with partners inside and outside of the department and organization. As such, this position will also assist in the following responsibilities:
- Gather information and insights as well as competitive analyses according to appropriate business need(s) and audience(s).
- Strategize and implement projects that enhance the brand experience for key audiences in Admissions, Advancement, Athletics and Economic Development/Government Relations, with particular attention to whether the work aligns with strategy of the UVA Wise brand and related project objectives.
- Assist in capturing story ideas visually and through writing captions, for social media and for storytelling purposes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in art, marketing, English, communications, or another relevant subject.
- At least 2 years demonstrated experience in photography, social media management, marketing, advertising, or communications, especially in complex environments.
- Experience overseeing, coordinating photography and videography shoots.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including professional written and verbal communication to both internal partners and outside organizations.
- Excellent organization skills and proven ability to prioritize and execute multiple, complex projects at one time.
- Diplomacy, sound judgment and ability to work with tact and professionalism with people from different walks of life.
- Collaborative and flexible team-player.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom required; experience with Adobe Premiere (or similar video editing software) preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Has an inquisitive nature and is a self-starter in capturing stories through visual storytelling and collecting and sharing story ideas with teammates.
- Able to edit and deliver content on tight deadlines.
