Associate Director, Financial Planning & Analysis - Dean's Office

Description

The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (DGSOM) is
seeking to hire an experienced Associate Director of Financial Planning &
Analysis (FP&A) to support strategic financial decision-making and lead a
team in managing all the components of budgeting and long-range financial
planning. This role will serve as a key advisor to senior leadership and act as
the Director's principal backup. The Associate Director will also oversee the
school's budget, financial forecasts, and analysis of key performance indicators.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to developing tools for
capital budgeting, integrated financial modeling, and space utilization, while
providing insights on faculty productivity, and strategic
issues. The role also involves producing monthly financial reports for senior
leadership to inform decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen and
technical skills, experience in budget development, and a proven track record
in leading high-performing finance teams. Strong collaboration with senior
leadership, including department chairs and UCLA Health System leadership, is
essential.

Salary Range: $102,500 - 227,700 Annually

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 7 years of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) experience in a related
    field

  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting concepts,
    including basic framework of the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a desire
    to understand the issues and drivers

  • Creative problem solver that can identify sources of
    information from disparate sources and deliver comprehensive, balanced, and
    actionable insights

  • Experience with financial analysis programs and building
    financial projection models

  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing Business
    Intelligence concepts

  • Experience informing change management and process
    improvement efforts in a complex organization

  • Excellent customer service interpersonal skills and ability
    to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders at
    all levels of the organization

  • Experience in helping teams improve their approach to
    enable more frequent delivery and feedback loops

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Business
    intelligence tools

  • Experience as a "leader" able to influence and motivate
    individuals to achieve outcomes even when they do not have a direct reporting
    relationship

  • High level of ethics, integrity, discretion and
    confidentiality; Supports the Cultural North Star principles through
    demonstrated behaviors and interactions.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent in business administration
    with an emphasis in accounting or finance or an equivalent combination of
    education and experience.

  • CMA or MBA

  • Expertise in fund accounting and performance metrics of research-intensive
    health systems
