Hear more from our team members about why UnityPoint Health is a great place to work at https://dayinthelife.unitypoint.org Overview Registered Nurse - Emergency Department - Methodist West UnityPoint Health Des Moines Full Time Nights 7p-7a Full Time Flex, 7a-7p or 11a-11p, depending on department needs, with holiday and every 3rd weekend rotation Shift differentials available for qualifying shifts Benefits Eligible Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 paid over 2 years Providing fast-paced care to patients experiencing emergent illness, injury, and acute care illness for children and adults Candidates who have at least 1 year of Critical Care or ED experience and have an active ACLS certification may be eligible for taking on the Rapid Response RN role within the ED. The Rapid Response RN is the point of contact for other nursing areas in Methodist West Hospital when patients are deteriorating or in need of additional assistance. Come join our team to be a valuable asset to both patients and coworkers! Responsibilities Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient's care. Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients. Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations. Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care. Demonstrates professional development by keeping abreast of current nursing practice and healthcare trends. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Qualifications: Current active Iowa License to practice as a RN. Minimum of six months RN experience. 2 years of hospital clinical experience, with at least 1 year of Emergency Department experience preferred. Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire. Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Department of Labor Level III (Medium) Work. ***PLEASE NOTE: All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, are encouraged and required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for the Registered Nurse Residency position.
