DaVinci Roofscapes has an opening for an Sr. Shipping Clerk in our Shipping Department The schedule for this position is M-F 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for coordinating all shipping/receiving of full trucks, Less Than Truck Load (LTL), and shipments for maintenance. Also, assists in the purchasing for manufacturing by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Negotiates and coordinates with trucking companies to move our product.
  • Conducts employee training sessions on subjects such as hazardous material handling, employee orientation, quality improvement, or computer use
  • Develops criteria, application instructions, procedural manuals, or contracts for federal or state public transportation programs
  • Directs activities related to dispatching, routing, or tracking transportation vehicles
  • Directs procurement processes including equipment research and testing, vendor contracts, or requisitions approval
  • Prepares management recommendations, such as proposed fee and tariff increases or schedule changes
  • Dispatches shipments to motor carriers by following customer service requirements and carrier utilization plans to achieve performance and profit objectives
  • Monitors and ensures shipments are confirmed picked up and delivered as scheduled
  • Obtains, assesses and negotiates small package, Less Than Truck Load (LTL), Container Load (CL)/Less than Container Load (LCL) freight quotes via air, land and air as required to meet customer and internal production demands
  • Manages timing of deliveries, including but not limited to, daily tracking and tracing of shipments in transit from the vendor to company warehouse door
  • Manages and prepares shipments of bulk
  • Evaluates and reports performance, quality and pricing of freight vendors. Compiles and reports monthly, quarterly and annually as dictated by spending category to the Director of Purchasing
  • Develops and maintains company's vendor shipping and routing data
  • Places purchase orders for supplies from requisitions provided by various departments, Safety, Maintenance, Production, etc. Assist in the management of supplies inventory

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook).
  • 2 years of warehouse/shipping experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English is a plus)
