Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs preventive maintenance and repair on all production equipment including injection molding machines and extruders, and all other support equipment including loaders, blenders, vacuum pumps, chillers, compressors, conveyors etc.

Performs building maintenance including Heat/Air Conditioner, plumbing and electrical.

Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.

Adjusts functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.

Aligns and balances new equipment after installation.

Assembles, installs, or repairs wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.

Cleans or lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.

Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.

Dismantles devices to access and removes defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

Inspects drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or performs other maintenance actions, following checklists.

Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.

Inspects, operates, or tests machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.

Operates cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

Paints or repairs roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.

Performs general cleaning of buildings or properties.

Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

Plans and lays out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.

Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.

Sets up and operates machine tools to repair or fabricates machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools.

Tests and treats water supply.

Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet Software (Excel).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Forklift Certified
  • Overhead Crane Certified.
  • Hot work and Lock Out Tag Out Certified
  • Heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems certification is a plus

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.
  • Detail oriented while maintaining an extremely positive attitude.
  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision.
  • Team player with a "can do" attitude that can work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional atmosphere for employees, clients and customers

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical ability with hand tools and threaded fasteners.
  • Basic electrical and hydraulic skills.
  • Plumbing skills.
  • Basic welding and machining skills.
  • Must be able to work outside of regular business hours which will include nights and weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
